On Saturday 8 February 2025, Sound Bridge connected three different time zones and reflected on the impact of soul music and how Detroit Soul has echoed across borders and influenced local Japanese and Swedish music scenes.

The event included live performances, DJ sets and stories from Shibetsu, Gothenburg and Detroit, as well as special guest Larry ‘Squirrel’ Demps, co-founder of The Dramatics. He shared his experiences as part of a generational legacy of soul music and was joined by his son, Michael Demps, an artist and musician, also known by his alias IX Lives.

The event took place in three different locations and time zones. In Gothenburg in the record store Peckham Soul, open to the public, in Detroit in the gallery Talking Dolls and in Shibetsu in northern Japan in a private residence. All of this was done publicly through our live stream broadcast on Twitch.
