For our fourth streaming session across time zones, the format evolved once again, connecting three continents simultaneously. This was a milestone for Sound Bridge: the very first time we bridged three time zones in real time. We expanded our connection beyond Hokkaido to Japan's capital, Tokyo, while also adding Detroit to the stream for the very first time. Participants and audiences in Gothenburg, Detroit, and Tokyo met during the same broadcast.
At Skogen in Gothenburg, Klaus Buchholz and Oscar Wirdelius, both members of the Kreativ Data electronic music collective, represented the local scene. In Detroit, Wes Taylor joined from Talking Dolls, where he played a live beat set alongside a selection of vinyl records.
From Tokyo, we were joined by Atsushi Ogawa, representing the Juhla record bar, also known as one of the organisers of the Juhla Festival. The event and the group behind it focus on Northern European sounds and culture, with a special focus on Nordic music, often highlighting artists from Finland, Estonia, and other Nordic regions.
Another important step forward was that we livestreamed from Skogen in Gothenburg for the first time. Teater Skogen itself is known for its broad local network of artists, and it is the space where collectives like Kreativ Data hold their meetings. This added a new layer of local connection to the project. The fourth Sound Bridge broadcasting session also demonstrated the dynamic and growing potential of the format itself. We experimented more with live electronic music and improvisation, while further expanding the intercontinental streaming experiment.
